Brazil´s Best Beaches: Our top 7

    February 25, 2016

    |

    Justin Miguel Ruivo

It is time to take an important decision!

Ok Brazil is full of white sand, transparent water beaches for lazing, resting under the leafy trees and sun bathing.

But there are so many that it´s hard to decide which one to visit.

Let us help you with that.

    1. Carneiros, the most romantic beach of Brazil.

Carneiros is considered as one of the most exceptional beach in Brazil, it is located 100km from Recife in the Pernanbuco state. It is a wild untouched beach, without any massive building and where human activity is limited. Carneiros is considered one of the best places for couples in Brazil.

During low tide, enjoy a horse ride from the beach to the white chapel of Sao Benedito,  and drink a fresh beer at the Do Mangue bar just in front of the river.

When high tide, go and swim in the wonderful blue ocean, walk a bit and discover natural swimming pools, and go visit sandbanks in traditional fishing boats.

If you feel tired, relax in the therapeutic mud of the Praia de Guadalupe, you will get out of it very relaxed with an invigorated skin.

For diner go to Beijupira where you can have crabs with cashew sauce, fresh lobster and whisky flambé prawn with fresh pineapple.

You also have to go to the Arikinda beach bar where you can enjoy fresh soups, prawn with garlic and olive oil and of course fresh Brazilian beer and juices.

If are lucky enough to rent one of the small typical beach houses you can enjoy the freshest seafood as local fishermen will come to your door offering fresh oysters and all kind of other seafood.

    2. Trancoso, a charming small golden beach.

Close your eyes and imagine: small typical coloured houses, a lovely chapel with Blue Ocean in the background… Welcome to Quadrado de Trancoso, where the upper class of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro fight for space during holiday season.

This small town was during the 80s, the destination for hippies but later on became one of the fanciest places to be in Brazil (just like Buzios). Small waves, turquoise sea water and coconuts trees, what else do you need!

What is great with Trancoso is that you can enjoy two different atmospheres:

    • If you feel like partying and have a drink go to the right end of the beach where beach clubs, lounge bars are, with people having fun and enjoying the party.

    • Or if you calmness, quietness and wilderness is what you need, go to the left end of the beach and follow the direction of Araial Ajuda.

If you are planning a trip to Trancoso, we strongly advise to go outside the holiday season and visit to the pousada Jardim das Margaridas.

    3. Florianopolis, paradisiacal beaches of Brazil.

Florianopolis (Floripa) has more than 42 beaches, so pick the one you want!

The most famous are Matadeiro, Joaquina in the South and Brava and Praia Mole up North. If you are going to Praia Mole, have a look at the Big Blue Club which one of the famous beach lounge bar and then have a walk in Galheta nearby.

Wealthy people spend their time around Jurere Internacional, where are located most of the lounge bars and luxurious hotels next to the ocean.

However, if you are more the adventurous kind of person, check out the forests of Naufragados or Lagoinha do Leste beaches (South) which are considered as one of the most beautiful beaches of the island.

And of course do not forget to taste the exceptional local seafood.

    4. Rio de Janeiro, a must do.

We all know Rio, the city, the beach and of course the Cristo Redentor. It is the most touristic city in Brazil so of course the city is crowded, beaches are full of people, but the atmosphere is unique! Rio is the perfect city for single people or group of friends, to go shopping and partying.

During major event as New Year Eve or Carnival it is veritable obstacle course, with a lot of traffic jam, streets and beaches completely full and it is really easy to lose your friends. But it is worth it! You will remember it for the rest of your life!

    5. Jericoacora, the fishermen’s corner of Brazil.

Once upon a time a Jericoacoara was lovely small fishermen town, close to the equator, between dunes, lagoons and ocean. Nowadays it is a huge touristic point in Brazil, but it is clearly understandable when you see the beauty of the place and the amazingness of the place is clearly worth the crowd in the city.

Located 5 hours from Fortaleza, Jeri is a very charming town with trendy hotels, great restaurants, lounges and bars as the Clube dos Ventos famous for nightlife.

It is perfect both for single people and for couples. And if you like extreme sensations, you can rent a buggy or quad motorcycle and ride the dunes.

Furthermore Jericoacoara is the Brazilian windsurf spot (surf also of course), where people from all around the world come to practice the sport and where international competitions take place. A famous saying states that wind brings gringos (foreigners) to the village but that they never go back to their home country. It actually is a fun but real fact.

For Sunset the city gathers on the “Duna por do sol” which literally means the sunset dune, to watch a magnificent sunset, and enjoy a drink after a day of activities before the night life start. The rock of Pedra Furada, one of the main touristic attractions is also pleasant during sunset, as it is less crowded, but you will need to walk a bit to reach it.

If you feel up for a Caipirinha and some fresh fish try Paraiso. Located in an incredible lagoon, the restaurant is owned by one gringo who came for holidays and never left.

    6. Bombinhas, stay beneath coconut palms.

If you are looking for a familial and peaceful place to bring all your kids this is the perfect place: calm, hot water and family activities.

Every year around 200 000 tourists come to Bombinhas to enjoy the sun and the beach.

For more privacy go to the Praia da Tahina, 2,5km from Sepultura where you can

surf, dive and snorkel, and live an unforgettable experience. We strongly advice you to take the boat to Arvoredo Marine Reserve to swim in crystalline water with dolphins and turtles, truly unbelievable for the whole family!

Keep half a day for the ascension of the Morro do Macaco, do not worry it is only about 30min and you will not regret the amazing 360 degrees view. Picture time !

    7. Praia do Forte, the turtle beach.

This place is famous because it is know as a natural sanctuary for turtles, where they come to lay their eggs.

Close to Salvador (55km), Estrada and Coco are two typical small fishermen village close to Praia do forte that still look authentic. There is no traffic jam, no building, everything is clean and natural.

Papa Gente is another great place to visit close by with natural swimming pools during low tide and great food like the pastels of Bar do Souza.

And of course do not forget to go to Tamar Project to see turtles.

    Bonus: Praia da Pipa

Speak Portuguese Brazil fell under the charms and decided to add Praia de Pipa, in Rio Grande do Norte to the list, therefo
