11 Must Do Activities in São Paulo

    June 8, 2015

    |

    Lola

In São Paulo there’s a little bit of everything. From grunge to alternative to chic, My Little Brasil lists 11 things you must do in order to become a real Paulistano.

    1. Go to a concert at Ciné Joia

Ciné Joia is one of the oldest theaters in São Paulo and today has become a very multicultural space that hosts the best concerts of the city with Studio São Paulo. Many artists have performed here, like Seu Jorge or Criolo.

Address: Praça Carlos Gomes, 82 – Sé – São Paulo

    Tel: (11)3101-1305

    2. Try the best caipirinha in the city

You are in Brazil, in São Paulo. What do you drink? Caipirinhas! The best one is the one made by Mister Souza at Bar Veloso. His caipirinha has won the prize of the best caipirinha of the city several times.

Address: Rua Conceição Veloso, 54 – Vila Mariana

    3. Grab food after a night spent at the club

It’s 4 in the morning and the Dj starts to become a little less good… you decide to call it a night with the intention of heading to bed. The happening of the events to come is only logical: you remember that you are dying of hunger. Satisfying one’s hunger in the middle of the night is a mission, especially if you don’t want an unappetizing (dirty) salgado.

Some ideas: Rex, Paris 6, Temakeria & Cie, Galeria dos Pães, Lanchonete do Estadão or lanchonete Frevo.

    4. Go to the best LGBT nights!

Lions Night Club, Yacht Club or Javali have “gay-friendly” events.

Do you know other ones? Comment below!

    5. Buy vinyl at the alternative markets

São Paulo, like all other places in Brazil, is a musically rich area where there’s rhythm everywhere you go.  But São Paulo is the cultural capital by excellence and in terms of the music, it is sure to please you. Our advice is to go to the Center to find the hidden gems.

We suggest Discos Vinil, Loja de Discos, Insound, Sempre Vinil, Record Collector, CD Universe and in Pinheiros at the Praça Benedito Calixto on Saturdays.

    6. Get a professional tattoo

It will eventually rub off on you, if it hasn’t already…the desire to get a tattoo. Have you read our article on the best tattoo parlors in the city?

    7. Go to an underground party

Obviously. Need we say more? Oh you want names! Voodoohop, the nomadic party is something you must try, but watch out for the long lines to get in. Stay up to date with their next even on their Facebook page.

    8. Go to a party at D-Edge

How can you consider yourself a Paulistano club-goer without ever having been to a famous D-Edge after party? Emerge into the daylight after having tasted the most famous after party in São Paulo.

    9. Go to an artistic manifestation

As a large cultural capital, São Paulo is on the path of expertise in creativity. Something you have to do: a tour of events organized by the Conexão Cultural.

    10. Go to the best places to see graffiti

You have definitely seen it, São Paulo is the city for skaters and also urban art: graffiti. It’s a lifestyle and to dive into it you have to go to the Beco do Batman.

    11. Drink molecular cocktails

Enough of the mediocre drinks go to a place a little more chic where you can try avant-garde cocktails. Go to Lab Club, you will be surprised.
